Final Major Project

Because my results that I have from all of the projects we have done so far actually make me have enough points to be in the DDD brackets, I don't have to worry about my Final Major Project, and can concentrate more on achieving something visually amazing rather than something that follows the grading criteria perfectly.

So we had a trip yesterday with college to a couple of exhibitions.

One was to Salford to The Lowry to see the exhibition from the advertising agency BGL. I must say I found this truely inspiring to see how a really successful company work. The section that stood out to me the most was the one where they showed their whole thought process from the brief to the final image of their British Airwaves advertisement.

The other exhibition was in the center of anchester at the Urbis gallery. This was the homegrown exhibition showcasing the Story Of UK Hiphop. This exhibition was also interesting.

Bought this album yesterday in Manchester. Truely, truely amazing. Definately matches up to their first album.

Is it really surprising that advertising for me today just use naked women now. Although, this is actually an interesting advertisement.

1970's advertising.

We have been put into small groups to look at the advertising world in the 70's.

One thing I could think of that could be compared with todays advertising is the Levi's jeans advertisements.

The contrast is quite different with the obvious fact that back in the 70's, the actual look of the models clearly wasn't as important a it is today, because todays example features a guy that is good looking and what not, where as the 70's has guys that are not so good looking.
Also, the colours used are different where the 70's advertisement uses more staurated colours where the todays advertisement uses warmer looking colours.

Progression Brief

We have started our new college brief for this half term.

We have to produce an advertising campaign aimed at teenaged aged around 17/18 that are wanting to progress on to higher education. For the brief we are to do a minimum of 4 pieces of advertisements for the subject.

i should really spend it doing something productive. hmm. least we actually went out the house for more than a walk today so i guess thats an improvement lol

journey project

This is one of the 5 mini briefs that we were given for the Location, Location, Location digital photography brief. We were asked to produce a set or 3 or 4 images that work together as a set communicating a'Journey'. We were also asked to introduce a new media within the images as well as photography, or edit them how we wished.

After much research and ideas to use, I decided to be influenced by David Hockney with his 'joiner' work. For my 'journey' I decided to communicate the journey of time. So for this, I went to the same place at 8am, 12pm, 4pm, and 8pm, and took a variety of photos for me to use, documenting the difference of how that same place looked at each of these times. I fitted together the photos in a joiner style.

just purchased this original signed print by Marc Johns. He is a proper amazing illustrator. Cant wait for it to get here =D

summer project

Brief: using the techniques and skills we learnt in year 1, we had to produce an image that summarised our summer.

I couldn't think of a good enough idea that included all the stuff that I did over summer 2009, because I did lots of stuff like road trips and leeds festival. Then when ever people asked about my summer, I would list the things I did, and then this sparked the idea to have a typography based image using words of what I did, and I put them in the shape of a speech bubble, and a little line head as 'me' to give the impression that it is what I say about the summer.
